Right, that's the Deal puns out the way. It's a little seaside town in Kent, if you weren't sure. I can't remember why we chose to go there, it's probably not usually top of anyones 'Seaside towns for a weekend break' list. That's not because it isn't a plesent little town, but more because that's pretty much all it is.
It's got a cool pier though, built in the 1960's it's pretty different from the usual victorian structures and has a brutalist concrete vibe.
We stayed in a pretty weird Air bnb right on the sea front, nice views out the windows, lots of swan ornaments and locked cupboards inside. Locked cupboards eveywhere, and a basement that seemed like someome might live in it.
Walmer Castle was originally a Tudor fortress, and later became a stately home and the residence of people like the Duke of Wellington, Queen Elizabeth and the Queen Mother. We had a nice walk around the castle and the gardens, taking in the history of the place.
